HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Are you sitting home alone today watching a Marathon of Tool Academy? Are you wondering why everyone else is out with their sweeties for this so called holiday?? Well our staff has compiled a history of Valentine's Day and some interesting and not so interesting facts about it.

History of Valentine’s Day:

Valentines Day has many legends and stories. Among the most popular of legends is a story about St. Valentine, a Christian priest who served in Rome in the third century. When Emperor Claudius II decided to outlaw marriage for young men because he believed they made better soldiers than men who were married (perhaps Claudius was... er- salty), Valentine proceeded to perform secret marriages for young lovers. When Claudius discovered St. Valentine was doing this he condemned him to death. Valentine’s Day is now celebrated as a celebration of love to commemorate the death of St. Valentine which occurred some time in 270A.D. in the month of February.

Another story suggests that St. Valentine was killed for his help freeing Christians from the Roman prisons. When his acts were revealed, he was sent to prison, sentenced to death. While in prison it was said that Valentine fell in love with his jailor’s daughter who often came to visit him in prison (was Valentine asking to be killed or what?!). Before he was killed he wrote his love a letter signed “From your Valentine”, still used as the expression today. St. Valentine became one of the most famous saints who is still recognized today (better have been a good letter).

A different side to the story claims that St. Valentine was very much in love with his mistress (a priest and a mistress… hmmm) but had been rejected by her (at least she had morals). He was so heartbroken he took a knife to his chest and sent her his still beating heart to display his token of undying love for her (ok, maybe a little creepy... he meant well) Today, we send “our hearts” to those we love- better known as a greeting card. WOW- men, take some notes… no wonder why we celebrate Valentine’s death. What a romantic!

Valentine’s Day Traditions:

United States- Valentines were first produced and sold by Esther Howland in 1847 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her father owned a large book and stationary store. After receiving a Valentine from England (those damn British always beat us to everything!), she decided to use her father’s resources and make Valentines big in America. Today, since 2001, the Greeting Card Association gives out annual “Esther Howland Award for a Greeting Card Visionary”.

· It’s estimated that 1 billion valentines are send each year making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday (don’t feel bad if you don’t get one- there’s only a billion of us existing haha)

· Women buy 85% of all Valentine’s- (not surprising)

Europe- In Norfolk, “Jack Valentine” goes around and knocks on the back doors of homes and leaves treats and presents for children. Many children were afraid of this mystical person. Maybe he wasn’t so mystical to the children. Is this the same Jack Valentine that is in prison now for child kidnapping?

In Wales, January 25th is St. Dwynwen’s Day. St. Dwynwen is known as the saint of Welsh lovers. Guess Valentine didn’t steal their heats... ha, get it?!...

France, Spain, Portugal (Saint Valentin, San Valentin, Dia dos Namorados) is celebrated somewhat similar to US.

Finland’s Valentine’s Day is called Ystävänpäivä (huh?!) translated as “Friend’s Day”. This day is more about remembering all their friends, not just their loved ones- maybe I should move there. I’d get a card at least! Haha

In Brazil Dia dos Namorados- Boyfriend/girlfriend Day is celebrated June 12th. It is much like the US holiday but is celebrated to worship Saint Anthony- their marriage saint. Many single women perform rituals to find a good boyfriend or husband. If you’re single and going on vacation- perhaps June should be when you book your flight to Brazil. Hey! Maybe some of those rituals involve blindfolds!

In Japan (these darn Japanese) women give chocolates to all their male co-workers (giri-choko). Don’t worry ladies, on March 14 men are expected to return the favor to the women who gave them chocolate. (Think about how much chocolate the men get! UGH not fair!) South Korea is similar. However, if they did not receive anything on either day, on April 14th (Black Day) they go to a Chinese restaurant to eat black noodles and “mourn” their single life. Looks like China Buffet is where I’ll be Saturday!

In 2008, Saudi Arabia religious police banned the sale of all Valentine’s Day items claiming this was an un-Islamic holiday. What do these religion police look like? Haha… what would happen if someone had a craving for chocolate on February 14th? Islams…

History of aphrodisiacs:

The word aphrodisiac is inspired by the Greek goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Foods were named the most popular aphrodisiacs because of their already known ability to create a pleasurable feeling. Aside from being an aphrodisiac by itself, food uniting of two people symbolized enhancing. I know what you’re thinking… no it’s not the chocolate syrup or the whip cream- whether the first piece of wedding cake or even enjoying a dinner, our weekly ritual.

Love Foods YOU can enjoy:

Asparagus: How about some asparagus? Aside from the nasty odor it makes your pee, it used to be served in the 19^th century to bridegrooms due to its aphrodisiacal powers

Banana: banana in health class in the 8^th grade, but bananas also have the enzyme bromelain which is shown to enhance male performance- ironic?

Caviar: Did you know that caviar is high in zinc? Zinc is shown to stimulate the formation of testosterone to maintain male functionality. Yuck! Perhaps you could just take Zinc to save yourself from eating this!

Champagne: We all know that alcohol can act as an aphrodisiac

Chocolate: Increases desire for physical contact. Chocolate was actually banned from certain monasteries centuries ago. Did men figure this out long ago and that’s why the heart shaped chocolates became so popular on Valentine’s Day?! Wow… you’re good. Jerks!

Figs: How many of you have eaten a fig ever in your life? In ancient Greece they were used in a copulation ritual (sexual intercourse). Hmm wonder what they did with them…

Ginseng: Increases desire for physical contact

Almond & Vanilla: the scent of these delicious herbs act as pheromones to communicate emotions by smell. Is that why your boyfriend loves Vanilla Bean from Victoria Secret?!

Puffer Fish: Talk about a risk! This fish has a poisonous gland and if not properly removed the tiniest taste is lethal! If you need to flirt with death to arouse your sexual desire, then perhaps you’re not with the right person…

Oysters: More of a symbolic representation as an aphrodisiac, oysters can change their sex from male to female and back again. Oysters are often consumed on Valentine’s Day to symbolize the experience of masculine and feminine love.

Radish: its spicy taste stimulates the palate- considered an aphrodisiac by the Egyptians. I don’t think you want to eat radishes on Valentine’s Day.

Cupid

Cupid is a popular icon associated with Valentine’s Day. Cupid was the son of Aphrodite. He is known as the God of erotic love shooting love into the hearts of those that aren't expecting it. Cupid is often depicted as carrying two sets of arrows: gold-headed arrows to inspire love and lead-headed to inspire hate.

Maybe animals celebrate Valentine’s Day too! Here is how Cupid and his “Love Darts” play into nature today…

The Love Dart

Love darts are made in sexually mature animals; animals who are hermaphroditic, like snails! They are usually fairly large and are used to shoot into the other animal before copulation. The mucus on the dart introduces a hormone-like substance that allows the sperm to survive a lot longer. When the body of one snail touches the other snail’s genital pore it triggers the firing of the dart. After this occurs, the snails get frisky and exchange sperm. They can create more love darts, but it takes time. Sometimes they can kill their mate by shooting them in the heat with the dart. Yikes!

Half-Way to Halloween Party Tomorrow!

So at least for a few hours you can feel like its October and you have the rest of the year ahead of you. If you're not a senior, get out there and have a kick ass time anyway.

BREAKING NEWS: FACEBOOK'S NEW CHAT FEATURE

Its over. Quit your job. Drop out of school. Sell your car. You never have to have "real" contact with the outside world again because now you will be addicted to FACEBOOK CHAT!

Facebook just added a new chat feature as of today April 23, 2008. If you thought the news feed changed the game, wait till you try this. You can chat with any of your friends who are also online stalking people on Facebook, right within your browser as you search for new bumper stickers.

When you think about it, its actually a pretty good idea. For those of you who like your privacy though, you can of course opt out of this feature. The only problem we see is what will happen to the poor wall now??

Roller Bowl: Wheelchair Football Game Hits Rec This Sat

Do you remember the Teen Line episode of Saved by the Bell? Oh come on, you know, its the one where the gang runs a teen help phone program and Zack meets a girl over the phone. The thing is though, when he meets her in person he finds out she is in a wheelchair...meanwhile Mr. Belding has to make budget cuts so the Teen Line is in danger of being eradicated. However, quick thinking Zack decides to put on a charity wheelchair basketball game. They make millions of dollars, save the Teen Line, and forget all about it by the next episode.

Well the same basic thing, minus the Teen Line and minus Zack Morris, is going down this Saturday April 19 at NOON at the Rec Center. A wheelchair football game, featuring members of the UT Rockets Football Team taking on the Toledo Crash - a wheelchair football team organized by the ability center of greater Toledo.

The annual event is FREE and will be held on the basketball courts of the Rec and those who stay after the game will get the opportunity to experience some wheelchair football for themselves.

SHE WILL ROCK YOU

She’s tough, funny, and beautiful but you’d be hard pressed to find someone more down to earth than UT pageant QUEEN Ashley Brown.

Carter Hall is not the prettiest dorm on campus. It’s run down, always too hot or too cold, and it feels like you’re back in time 40 years when you step inside. There’s really nothing glamorous about it other than the fact one of its residents is a pageant queen. UT freshman and self proclaimed military brat Ashley Brown has competed in numerous beauty pageants, most recently Miss Ohio in March. However, it doesn’t do this natural beauty justice to label her as just a “beauty queen” because after about 15 seconds of knowing her it’s clear to see she’s so much more.

FACECAST: You competed in the Miss Ohio competition a little while back. How did that go?

ASHLEY BROWN: It didn’t go as well as I wanted it to. I got fourth runner up. That’s a big improvement from last year. Cause last year I was in the teen division and I ended up running off the stage during my interview question so it’s a good thing I didn’t do that again.

FC: Most people are going out to parties and stuff like that on the weekends but you’re out at these beauty pageants. What’s that lifestyle like?

AB: All girls are alike. The stereotypes for pageant girls are true. Like I definitely don’t think I look like one though – I don’t really know how to do my hair or makeup so I have to try and hire people to do those things for me when I compete. These girls were brought up to be pageant girls. Their mothers were unsuccessful themselves in the pageant industry so they live through their daughters – that is the stereotype and its true for a lot of girls. I’ve maybe made only about one or two friends in this pageant thing because a lot of the girls are just in it for the money and the crown and the fame when other girls are actually in to raise awareness of their platform.

FC: What is your platform?

AB: My platform is called “Military Kids Are Kids Too”. I developed this about two years ago because I’m a military kid myself and what it does is help military kids adjust to new schools and social settings. It’s really hard for us to adjust being put into schools and always being the new kid. I never lived in one place for more than two years. A lot of times military kids have a hard time with their grades and stuff too when their parents are deployed – my mom is over there right now. So if it’s hard for me its got to be harder for a younger kid. With these pageants, if I win a title, people will actually take notice of my platform. That’s the point of all this.

FC: It sounds like a great cause to begin with but it takes a win for you to get your platform noticed?

AB: People don’t see it as a big deal because military kids make up about half of 1% of the population of the United States.

FC: You said you’ve lived in a lot of different places. Let’s start at the beginning and go through where you’ve been. Where were you born?

AB: I was born in Port Clinton, OH. Population: 5,000. I was in Ohio for six months then moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for year – then to Fort Gordon, Georgia, back to Ohio and then to Korea.

FC: Wow, so you speak Korean?

AB: Korean was my first language – maybe not my first language but it was the first word I spoke. My first word was “Kamsamnida” which means “Thank You”

FC: That’s pretty big for a first word. And very polite too.

AB: We had a Korean nanny so me and my brother and sister all picked it up a little bit.

FC: So where else have you lived?

AB: I lived in Germany and the Netherlands. Actually, I lived in Germany and would take an hour bus ride to go to school in the Netherlands everyday because I didn’t want to go to a British boarding school in Germany.

FC: The thing I think is crazy is that you should have a really weird accent but you don’t.

AB: Well I actually pick it up a little when I go back to these places. Like when I go back to Jersey I say “tawk” and “caw-fee”.

FC: My family is from New York so I have to talk about Jersey with you for a second. Living there for a little while, would you consider yourself a Jersey Girl?

AB: Yeah I would. Just cause I’m not there right now doesn’t mean I’m not one.

FC: New Yorkers and Jersey people know what a typical Jersey girl is but can you enlighten Toledo as to what it means to be a true Jersey Girl?

AB: They’re laid back party girls who don’t care what people think about them. They just have a certain attitude.

FC: So being in all these different places around the world how did you end up in little old Toledo?

AB: Well my dad went here and UT has a lacrosse team and the best Law School in Ohio in my opinion. I really love it here.

FC: So you’ll be here for a few years then? Will this be the longest you’ve stayed anywhere?

AB: Yeah I’m getting uncomfortable a little because I’ve been here for almost two years and its just weird to stay somewhere for me. I love everything about this place its just I’m not used to staying. I feel like its time to pack up my room and move again. I need a change of scenery I guess. One time I moved from Kansas to New Jersey and that was quite a difference. So who knows, I’ll probably end up in California after here.

FC: What’s it like being a student athlete here at UT?

AB: I love it. My classes are easy so being on the Lacrosse team gives me something to do. People really love us, we have a lot of fans that come out to watch us – I guess they love girl brutality or whatever.

FC: So you’re not just some dainty, fragile, beauty queen. You’re pretty tough right?

AB: I’ve dislocated my jaw seven times.

FC: Not bad. You’re also really involved a lot on campus. You’re only a freshman so why aren’t you just sitting up in your dorm playing video games all the time?

AB: It’s the military brat in me. That’s how we make friends when we go to new places – we join clubs and organizations. I joined Student Government my first day here. So it just helps us get out there and meet people.

FC: So being all over the world how did you get into the pageant scene?

AB: I did it as a joke my junior year of high school. The crown I wore in this photo shoot was the first crown I ever won. I was the 2006 Port Clinton Walleye Queen. I think I only won because I cried though – they asked me who the most inspirational person in my life was and I was talking about my grandpa when my grandma was sitting in the first row.

FC: Walleye Queen to Miss Ohio is quite a jump as well. Take me through that adventure.

AB: After I traveled around Ohio a bit I saw these other girls and I met Miss Ohio and I just asked “how did you do this?” Then I did some more research and there it was. Last year I competed in Miss Teen Ohio and this year was Miss Ohio.

FC: Some people may think it’s easy to stand up there and look pretty on stage but what’s the toughest part about it for you?

AB: It’s actually really hard to be a pageant girl. When I’m standing up there waiting for my turn you see the other girls mess up and it starts to mess with your head and you think that you’re gonna do the same thing. Then the lights are so hot and bright but you can’t see the audience even though you know there’s a ton of people there. Your body is just shaking and when you go to that microphone for your speech you have to just try your best to take yourself out of that moment and get yourself through it. The judges are scoring you based on what you look like, what you say, and how you say it so it’s very hard. And smiling through everything that I just mentioned isn’t easy either. One trick a lot of girls do is put Vaseline on their top lip so when they close their mouth it’s disgusting. That way they it forces them to keep smiling.

FC: What other tricks do girls use?

AB: Pepper, lemon juice – a lot of things. Also you’re not supposed to put your hands behind your back or in front of you. If you stand sideways you look skinnier – I guess skinniness is important in pageantry.

FC: Is there anything you’re really self conscious about?

AB: I have to wear makeup on stage which makes my face breakout and then I have to cake on even more makeup so it makes it worse. A lot of the girls are paper thin and I just feel like I’m normal. Another thing though is my shark bite on my leg. I have to cover that up sometimes.

FC: Shark bite?

AB: I was actually an aspiring marine biologist and I was in the Cayman Islands about a year ago when I swam up to this little shark I wanted to get a picture of. I took the picture and went to swim away but my fin hit the shark and the shark freaked out and bit my leg. I knew what to do so my first reaction was to punch the shark and it went away.

FC: Did you punch it in the face?

AB: You’re supposed to punch it in the gills. It was really gross because there was like a chunk of my leg missing and it was bleeding everywhere. I had to get out of the water right away because the sharks can smell the blood and all that. I wasn’t freaked out just a little shaken up.

Lively Finally Joins Facebook!!!

Dance Marathon was a huge success this year, however, this year's DM will not be remembered for the fact they raised the most money they ever have. Yes, history was made but not at the UT rec center - it was made on Facebook.

For 3 Years all Mike Lively heard from his friends was "how come you're not on Facebook?" "Why don't you just get a profile already?" Yep, the Dance Marathon Overall Director never had a Facebook profile nor a desire to ever get one. In fact some say he was even anti-Facebook.

That all changed when Facecast producer John Andosca, one of the proud sponsors of Dance Marathon, made Lively an offer he couldn't refuse: a personal $50 donation to the Children's Miracle Network if and only if Lively signed up for Facebook right then and there. Ever the philanthropist, Lively agreed and finally signed up.

Unfortunately it seems as though all of Mike's free time is now being occupied in the Facebook world as he already has 164 friends and 39 wall posts to his credit. Sorry, Mike but you're addicted just like all of us now.

Facebook Group Saves Spring Break

Imagine being on the way to having the best spring break of your life. Imagine driving to Florida on I-75 at midnight and having your car break down in Kentucky of all places. Then imagine being stranded. For Branden Cobb, Chase Johnson, Eric Miklovich, and Kris Byers...this was reality.

The guys were on their way to Panama City in Branden's 2003 Ford Taurus (which they affectionately call the "cli-taurus") when it suddenly broke down on the side of the road.
Kentucky can be a scary place in the middle of the night but the guys plunked down $55 for a room and took refuge in a Microtel. While stuck in the hotel Branden created a group called Stuck in Frankfort, Kentucky...Help Save Our Spring Break!

"We decided to make the group trying to get someone to drive down to pick us up and save our spring break." said Cobb.

Even though the group was made in the middle of the night there was no shortage of support from their friends.

"We had quite a few people calling and texting us to make sure we were alright.", Cobb added.

30 minutes before his own flight to Florida was supposed to take off, Cobb's roommate Joey Hurd got in his car and drove down to pick up the guys - who had nothing to do but wait patiently in room 203.

"He showed up to pick us up at like 9 the next morning so it really only set us back about 6 or 7 hours." Cobb said.

They still made it to Panama City Beach in time for Saturday evening's "festivities". Thank God for Facebook.

While all of you were living it up on Spring Break, Mike Betz was back at UT working hard to support potential democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Betz, a well-known republican, was even seen on the main page of the New York Times website as a Clinton supporter.

Clinton and her entourage (which included Ted Danson!) visited UT last Monday for a rally in the Student Union. Clinton's daugheter Chelsea also visited UT a few weeks back.

The student Government race is on and there's no denying that Facebook plays a huge part in who we vote for in the elections. While I am no political expert, I have been around UT for six elections so I have seen and heard it all. With the polls opening in 4 weeks, I will analyze both sets of candidates. Although Facecast is not officially endorsing either ticket, I still encourage you to go out an vote March 31 - April 3.

My Opinion:
While their Facebook group and platforms seem to be organized and well thought out, there is really nothing new here...Door Street, 24hr campus, etc. -although their idea to have the first parking violation be a warning is a good one. (at least they didn't mention Rocky's Attic like everyone else in years past) It is clear that they are both more than qualified to take on the duties of the President and Vice President - Greg and Kristina are both well spoken and professional.

Keys To Victory:
Greg and Kristina are the early favorites to win already because they have support from many within SG. If you believe in the "Greek Machine" argument, Greg is the only one who is in a fraternity in this race so that will help his chances. Maintaining their professor demeanor and eloquent platforms is all they have to do.

My Opinion:
Carl and Jon have some good ideas but their Facebook group description is laid out poorly. The idea of making the old computer lab a bowling alley is good because it actually used to be a bowling alley back in the day, but word on the street is that they have already decided to use that for office space. Some of their other platforms are downright confusing so I thought I would single out a few here:

“AVI food services will be 24 hrs (carryout) that way we will develop a better relationship rather hustle.”
This isn’t a bad idea but I don’t know how they would go about implementing this and I don’t know what the “rather hustle” part means.

“Carl Nelson and Jon Wang will help lower the college tuition! By doing so we will lower the deduction cost for 3rd-4th year students.”
I tried to get tuition lowered every year I was a student at UT - I bitched, moaned, and complained to the bursars office, I picketed outside the President’s office, staged a sit in, and threatened to blow up the tower if they didn’t lower my tuition. I even had Allison Dow write an article in the Collegian about it. But still, nothing. Ok, I didn’t actually do any of those things but lets face facts, no matter what anyone does, students are not in control of tuition. Student Government can make many changes to many things but they can’t lower tuition. Even if they could it would take years to put that into action.

I don't know what this means.

Their hearts are in the right place but I feel they should rethink and repackage some of their platforms before we get farther in the elections.

Keys To Victory:
The key for Carl and Jon to win is to reach those who wouldn't normally vote by educating them that Student Government can make a difference. They both seem to be very popular in their respective circles so if they can get a grassroots movement going, they might have a shot.

Summary:
Sometimes Student Government gets bad press and some people even think its complete bullshit. However, if you have the right people in office and you care enough, SG can make a big difference.

SEANO MEETS WORLD...AND TOPANGA

Seanofield Weisenburger was out partying in New York City at Porky's Bar for his birthday last friday when he ran into Danielle Fishel, who you know better as Topanga Lawrence from 90s sitcom Boy Meets World.

"I talked to her for a few minutes. She was a sweetie." Seano said.

Fishel was making a public appearance at the bar when Seano approached her for a few pictures. According to Seano, Topanga poured a shot in his mouth which proceeded to spill all over him.

When asked if he knew her real name at the time he met her Seano replied, "I Googled it when I got home."

UT’S OWN SUICIDE GIRL ‘JINX’ HAS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH BEING ‘DIFFERENT’

SuicideGirls.com is a website that features old-school-style pinup pictures of goth, punk and indie-looking girls. Each girl on the site goes by a nickname which they pick out. ‘Jinx’ is a Suicide Girl who happens to also be a student at UT. As she arrived at our studio – just 2 hours before we were to get a glimpse of a rare lunar eclipse, it was clear that the moon was not the only thing to be eclipsed that night. Her outgoing personality and quirky sense of humor also eclipsed any misconceptions we may have had about her based on her looks. Never was there ever a better poster child for the old adage, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”…

FACECAST: What made you decide to pose for a site like Suicidegirls.com?

JINX: It’s just that I knew the girls had a lot of self confidence and I’m really into -you know, the positive portrayal of females. It’s not at all like Playboy. Playboy is porn. It’s more like Venus De Milo nudity – that’s how I describe it. I mean it can be explicit – that’s not to say it’s always squeaky clean, but there’s kind of two halves to the site in my eyes. There’s kind of the raunchier side and then the kind of nudity like where you see a mom with her baby nudity.

FC: So what really is the site exactly? What is a Suicide Girl?

JINX: Suicide Girls is actually based out of Oregon and I know for a fact the term suicide girls comes from the term “dying by your own hands” – a lot of girls dye their hair. I dye my own hair so I have dyed by my own hands.

FC: Have you ever had any major mishaps with your hair dye?

JINX: I actually generally get it all over myself. In the shower usually like my legs are pink when I get out. Sometimes I’m too lazy to wear gloves and my hands are whatever color for like a week. One time – I didn’t bleach my hair out well enough and it turned out like Florida Gators colors. Like a bright green and bright orange – which at the time was not pleasing to me and I actually cried. And when I was in fifth grade, when I was about to meet Aaron Carter, I totally dyed my hair and it came out like that old lady plum color.

FC: Wait, how did you meet Aaron Carter?

JINX: Mom magic. I also got to meet LFO, 98 Degrees, Keenan – he’s actually just super b-t-w.

FC: For our readers over 17, b-t-w is “by the way”, right?

JINX: Right.

At this point her boyfriend calls and we hear her ringtone – Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right”. After a minute or so we return to the interview…

JINX: Sorry that was my boyfriend. I had to give him directions – he’s got my dress for the shoot.

FC: That’s fine. Did people always think you were different growing up because you dyed your hair all these crazy colors?

JINX: I don’t remember where I read this but a girl was quoted as saying “I was too weird for the weird kids.” That’s been my entire life. I never fit in with anybody and that’s completely ok. Everyone’s like “you have no friends – I feel so bad for you.” I’m like, “why would I want to be friends with those people? I don’t like them anyway.”

FC: Do people generally bother you?

JINX: I’m really open-minded. My best friend – I’m actually the maid of honor in her wedding – she’s like super conservative, drives a mini van and we’ve been best friends since first grade. Then I have my friends who have piercings, tattoos, and stretched ears and that stuff so I guess just stupid people bother me. If you’re an idiot just stay away from me and don’t talk to me.

FC: Is there an example of a particular idiot you can’t stand?

JINX: Ignorant people - people who don’t listen to what others have to say. You know, I’m a vegetarian and people who say “animals taste good you’re stupid for not eating meat” – I hope you get hit by a bus. I really do.

FC: So its not people who eat meat as much as those who don’t have tolerance for those who don’t?

JINX: Exactly. My boyfriend’s the biggest carnivore you’ll ever meet. I don’t care - if you respect my views, I respect yours. There should be some social regulations – like for people who are clearly jackasses but aren’t breaking any laws - there should be a punch brigade. People would just have these badges and have the right to punch people who deserve it.

FC: Who else would you like to punch?

JINX: People who have frosted tips. We saw this frat boy from like 1995 who had them. Also tanerexic people.

FC: So you dye your hair and you’re a vegetarian but what else about you has put you in this “different” category?

JINX: I guess being bluntly honest and being half-way good-looking, people automatically assume I’m a bitch. I’m like why would you think that? I’m really nice. Actually the way I look - old people are scared of me. I love old people. It just bothers me that the way I look puts people off. Yeah I think my personality and the fact that I just don’t give a shit has something to do with it too.

FC: It would be nice if they didn’t judge you but you don’t care at the same time?

JINX: No not at all. If you’re close minded enough to think I’m less of a person, or I do drugs – its even hard for me to imagine what people think about the way I look. If you’re that ignorant to think those things you’re not important to me.

FC: What was growing up like for you?

JINX: I lived on a farm which surprises people. I’ve probably seen and shoveled more horse shit than anyone will in their entire life. I’m an only child. I just kind of grew up and did what I wanted – I wasn’t a hellraiser but I did my own thing. I went to a catholic school and I just realized I looked like everyone else one day. I came back the next day with my hair all cut off. I couldn’t dye it cause the school wouldn’t let me. I dyed it after I graduated.

FC: Did you go to prom?

JINX: Yeah I actually got my dress in Iceland. The best though was at our Christmas ball at our school – everyone dressed up and looked really nice. I thought that was kind of lame and I wanted to stand out a little bit from everyone. I didn’t wear something crazy like a hot dog suit but I wore this dress (the black dress in the photoshoot) and I covered myself with cornstarch and I covered my face with a black veil. We were sitting in church and everyone was just kind of staring at me. I looked like I was dead.

FC: That was high school, but what about coming to UT? What was that like?

JINX: There’s not a lot of people who really look like me and act like me. I hate to say that but I really don’t see a lot of people who are like me. I don’t wanna say I’m alone but I just kind of feel like I’m an individual.

FC: What makes you an individual at UT?

JINX: I’m a light Nazi. You have no idea. Somebody leaves the room for 30 seconds – the lights have to be off. I’ll walk in and turn out the lights. It seems like at UT there’s no unity and no one cares about anyone else. I’m really big on if everybody on campus shut off their lights 20 minutes extra a day, do you know how much money we would save over 2 years? Do you think we could lower tuition for everybody? How awesome would that be? No one else seems to give a shit and that drives me crazy. I guess I’m more of a liberal thinker and that doesn’t fit in here.

FC: In just the short time we’ve spent together, I can’t help but notice you have pretty much your entire life on your phone. Pictures, music – even a sweet Billy Joel ringtone. How much do you rely on that thing?

JINX: Despite popular belief I could give up my phone for a day. I think in the last 24 hours though I have received and sent 135 text messages. Yeah I have a lot of pictures because this is my camera. I always have this with me.

FC: What’s something interesting about your Facebook profile?

JINX: Bumper stickers – I have so many of them. My roommates and I just send each other bumper stickers while we’re literally sitting right next to each other. I have my favorite music up there. My favorite little snippet about me I have – “I’m not emo. Don’t just assume." Some people say, “hey there’s that emo girl.” No. No – I’m not emo. People who think that should get the punch brigade.

FC: How long have you been on facebook? Were you on in the pre-application days?

JINX: Yeah.

FC: So what’s your opinion on all the applications we have now?

JINX: They drive me up the wall. I just got the invite for the “Which 50s pinup girl are you?” application

FC: Which one would you be?

JINX: Its cliché but I’d have to say Bettie Page.

FC: Before we wrap up, what else should we know about you?

JINX: I snort when I laugh and when I get tickled really hard I develop a southern accent. I have OCD. I wash my hands constantly. I’ve noticed it spreads to other things like I have to pee 3 times before I fall asleep. If I’m over at my boyfriend’s house and I have nothing to do I just clean up. Sometimes I spaz out - like I was at Bob Evans the other day and I had a bunch of stuff by me and I just couldn’t eat and I panicked.

FC: What are your eating habits?

JINX: If I have like a veggie burger and fries I have to eat one thing then the other. I can’t take a bite of the veggie burger and put it down and then eat a fry. I have to eat one thing at a time.

FC: That’s how I am too. That’s not that weird.

JINX: But I won’t eat it after I put it down – it’s like chewed gum to me. You know you can’t put something down after it’s been in your mouth and then put it back in.

FC: The whole veggie burger isn’t really in your mouth though.

JINX: Yeah but that’s what its like for me.

FC: What if you broke off a piece of the burger?

JINX: That’s okay. I can’t put my own ketchup and mustard on my food. If I grab the ketchup bottle to put it on my veggie burger I’d have to go all the way to the bathroom to wash my hands. So it’s just easier for someone else to put the ketchup on my food.

FC: Does anything just really gross you out?

JINX: A certain combination of words – creamy vomit loaf. (gags)

FC: What about public restrooms - do you use those?

JINX: Sometimes. I have a really high sense of will power so I could make myself do something if I absolutely have to. If I have to pee, I pee. I can’t be like “there’s germs there!” At least I can be rational sometimes.

FC: So is it always a germ thing? Cause when I met you, I went to shake your hand and you said you don’t shake hands.

JINX: It’s just like, hey I’ve never met you - have some of my germs. Like that’s just really weird to me. You know how many people don’t wash their hands after they go to the bathroom? I don’t want pee germs on me. That’s gross.

FC: Do you at least do the Howie Mandel rock thing?

JINX: No I don’t want your knuckle germs either. I just bump elbows. That works really well.

If you have nothing to do after you watch "Lost" tonight, head over to the AOII house to support Dance Marathon. Our Facecast staff got excited when we heard about this A-O-Potato Event as we thought they were replacing their A-O-Pie-In-The-Face event (where people pay money to hit AOII girls in the face with pies) with this so we could throw potatoes at them. The girls were smart enough to realize how much that would hurt so they decided to just let us eat the loaded baked potatoes instead. Oh well...it should still be a good time though. 3rd ANNUAL COLLEGE PROM - JUST 1 DAY AWAY!

Forget the Super Bowl, the Oscars, the Grammys, and even Groundhog Day - Curtis Brinkman's Annual Prom Party is the premiere event of February. Each year Curt and his friends throw a big bash with a prom theme in honor of his birthday. It all started back in 2006 at U-Hills Apartments when they crammed in a bunch of friends who were decked out in their finest tuxes and dresses. They even crowned a king and queen.

Last year the party moved to their house on Westwood and took on a Hollywood theme - complete with full decorations and a professional photographer to take "prom pictures".

This year plans to be the best one yet as the masquerade theme already has people buzzing on the event page. There are already an astounding 154 people listed attending prom this year.

Only FACECAST will be on hand to bring you exclusive photos and video from the event but for now, check out our highlight video from last years prom with interviews from the hosts and guests - complete with a cheezy prom-cliche montage at the end. Enjoy.

Annie Hall (1977)

You may know Woody Allen as the weird old dude who makes movies who had a scandal involving his step daughter or you may not know him at all - but film fans know Woody as the mastermind behind this romcom masterpiece. Annie Hall tells the story of Alvy, a neurotic TV producer, and his seemingly star-crossed relationship with Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) - am awkward mid-westerner living in Manhattan. This is considered by many to be one of the truest, most bittersweet romances on film. Not to mention it features a young Christopher Walken - if you weren't sold before, you should be now. Check out some scenes here:

TOOTSIE (1982)

Even the thought of Dustin Hoffman in drag is enough to make any rational-thinking person vomit but even the reality of it, coupled with a hilarious Bill Murray isn't enough to bury the romantic undertones of this film. Hoffman plays Michael, a struggling actor with a reputation for being difficult to work with, who ends up changing his appearance to land a role on a popular soap opera. It may sound really lame but when you couple Hoffman's sweetness with a gorgeous Jessica Lange, you have a winner.

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (1989)

Everyone knows Billy Crystal as a great comedian but his undeniable charm in "When Harry Met Sally" is a big reason why this film is one of the greats. Co-starring Meg Ryan as Sally, this film shows two platonic friends who deny their feelings for each other. This film is way ahead of its time as it explores the idea of "friends with benefits" and makes you think about how men and women interact in general. If you see one movie on this list make it this one. By the way, this movie is actually playing TONIGHT at 7:00 at Cinema de Lux 18 on Reynolds across from Meijer. Zach Beebe stays on top (and probably will considering the popularity of our interview with him), while newcomers Dave Hochanadel, Haley Flowers, and Jordan Frausto make strong showings in their first week.

1. ZACH BEEBE - 100% Beebe Its How I Live...
Not much can be said for this album that Zach didn't say in his interview but I'm sure the pics with large amounts of cash have something to do with its popularity.

2. DAVE HOCHANADEL - Toledo's Top Model

Not only does this album shoot up the charts to #2 in its first week, but it contains some of what our staff considers the best shot photos on facebook. On a cold night Collegian photographer Dave Hochanadel rounded up Hope Naomi Mendola, Abigail Zimmerman, and Fadia Touma and had a little photo shoot around the bike path. Other than looking like an album cover shoot for a bad 80s girl band, this photo album seems to have no immediate point to it.

3. ELYSE CHENGERY - *BaCK To ScHoOl*
Theres nothin like post-break shenanigans with some hot Kappa Deltas, spray-tanned frat guys and a few Tri Delts thrown in for good fun (esp. Ashley Aumiller)

4. ROCK 'N' ROLL BOB - Photo Albums Suck Ass Because It Smells
Any photo album that gets its name from a GG Allin song has got to be interesting. Fires, knives, nipples and Jewish bread are whats gotten this chart mainstay to number 4.

5. HALEY FLOWERS- Last Month in the States

The sentimental favorite of the week - Hayley Flowers (left) has decided to document her last month before her and best bud Anna Hollingsworth (right) going off to Australia in this photo album. The story behind this picture is more interesting than any of the photos as it shows the girls waiting in the car on the shoulder of I-75 as Anna forgot to put gas in her car. Hope things work out better for them down under.

6. ASHLEY BURRESS - Summer 07 * Thanks for the Memories
This album shot back up the charts when a particular picture in the album received a whopping 13 comments on Monday.

7. JORDAN FRAUSTO - One of those nights!

Documenting a typical evening on the town might not be much unless you hit the clubs instyle and steal ice cream signs from Cottage Inn. And it doesn't hurt if you can get the moon to party with you too.

8. BRITTNEY OSBORN - I Need A Soldier In Here!
Who doesn't love cheerleaders and theme parties? Its even better when they're together as shown in this soldier-themed party. Brittney liked one of the pictures so much that one from this album is still her profile pic after almost 4 weeks.

Pi Phi Nation shines in this album from a new years eve party which featured such dignitaries as SG Pres Mike Betz and Calvin Green.

The Bojangles Elbow!

Do you remember when wrestling was cool? Its ok, we don't either (unless you count THIS), but apparently Amanda Surckla does. Amanda and her roommates, known collectively as the Bojangles girls, might have partied a little too hard because as this video (posted by Amanda's roommate Abby Pecararo) shows, shit got crazy when Amanda started dropping elbows in their living room.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRODUCER: February 12, 2008

"Welcome to the brand new and improved FACECAST! It is with great pride that I present this new website to all the students in the Toledo network. Last year, we released a VIDEO that was a newscast featuring real facebook news from Toledo. Unfortunately, there were issues with University officials and I was forced to take the video down after it became ridiculously popular after only 2 days.

I vowed that I would one day bring Facecast back to life and now that I have graduated, I'm finally able to bring Facecast back in a brand new and exciting form. Facecast is now a Hollywood-style blog site featuring news about "UT Celebrities" and everyone else in the Toledo network. We have so many cool new features and we have some amazing things planned for the rest of the semester.

Thank you very much for checking this new site out. Make sure you come back often because it will be updated EVERYDAY!! That's right, everyday we will be adding new content to the site.

Student Government VP Bre Democko - UT’s busiest girl
reminds us things aren’t always as they appear.

A wretchedly cold and rainy night is all that stood between Breanne Democko and another day as Student Government Vice President. Instead of being nestled in the inviting comfort of her own bed, wrapped in her cozy fleece blanket (emblazed with the UT emblem; a gift from President Jacobs himself), she is hard at work in the student government office working on her next day’s assignment – a biographical speech for her public presentations class. It is 1:17 A.M.

FACECAST: What makes your day different from that of a normal student?

BREANNE DEMOCKO: No two days are alike and that’s the thing. I only have classes in the evenings and late afternoons but I am always in this office. Funny story, I actually haven’t hooked up the internet in my apartment so I would be forced to come here to do stuff – so I kinda didn’t have an excuse to sleep in and just check email on my own. I actually have to come into the office. I might as well sleep here – just bring my clothes, maybe go to the rec and shower.

FC: Is it safe to say that Student Government is your life then?

DEMOCKO: Yeah. You know, this does sound cliché but when I gave my oath of obligation to be the Vice President of SG (Student Government), I knew that sometimes it was gonna be hard and I knew a lot of times I’d be stressed out. My personal life may fall short a bit because of that but its all worth it.

FC: What in particular has suffered in your personal life?

DEMOCKO: I was much more involved in my sorority the first two years and that’s something I’d like to get back to. This year I’m doing Songfest for the first time. Yeah, in my first two years, I held positions in my chapter but now I’m not allowed to hold any other positions in any organizations being the Student Government Vice President. I’ve definitely lost touch with a lot of my friends, I haven’t had like, you know, the spare time just to do anything spontaneous – like let’s go here and hang out or let’s just watch a movie. I can’t tell you the last time I just sat down and just watched a movie because I’ve never actually had two hours to do something for myself. And that’s really sad to think about it like that but I mean if I had two hours of spare time I’d sleep.

FC: How many hours of sleep do you get per night?

DEMOCKO: Not enough. This feels like a therapy session. (laughs) No, I’d say probably five or six hours.

FC: Getting back to SG, with Student Government being your life – you guys have come under a lot of criticism this year. What do you make of all this?

DEMOCKO: I don’t think that you can criticize an organization until you’re in it. You don’;t know what that organization is actually going through, or like the internal problems until you’re there. I don’t care how many meetings you go to or how many papers you read, you have no idea. As for the things that were touched on in the Collegian, I think that its utter bullshit. I think its totally stupid. I get really mad every time I read the Collegian because they say that we bicker all the time, that we hate each other, that there’s a huge struggle of power. There’s not. I mean we just had an overall student government meeting the other night and I asked everyone if they thought the problems we had at the beginning of last semester were still going on. They said no. The branches get along. We work together on projects. As an organization we’re improving every day.

FC: So all of the negativity surrounding Student Government is completely untrue?

DEMOCKO: Absolutely. I think the reason why we did have some of the bickering that we did was coming right off of the campaign. Like right after Mike and I got elected, there were a lot of people in Student Government who were for different candidates. Once we got elected, everyone still stayed polarized and I think there was some animosity against us. But that’s seriously done with. They always say that Ken Evans, the chair of Senate, and Mike and I don’t get along – I don’t think that’s true at all. I talk to Ken all the time. Yeah, I’m a huge smart ass in Senate meetings. I will completely admit that. I can be a total bitch, but I get the point across. People understand what I’m trying to say without me talking for ten minutes.

FC: Some people may perceive you as being stuck up because you are always wearing a suit whenever you are on campus. How accurate would that perception be?

DEMOCKO: I think that you have to take pride in looking nice. Even if you feel like shit – if you wear nice clothes, people won’t know you’re feeling like shit. I just think its important to present yourself well at all times. Its something that’s part of my job and I take that very seriously. I know that wearing a suit and heels all the time might look stuck up but its all part of the whole package.

FC: Since Mike [Betz] is the President, do you at all feel like his sidekick?

DEMOCKO: A lot of people know Mike. I know a lot of people too but Mike knows every single person in this University – by first and last name. He can tell them their favorite food, mother’s maiden name – literally everything. He just remembers people’s names and faces. I didn’t know as many people as him when we first ran, so maybe I was just the girl in the pictures with him all the time but I don’t think so now. I think I’ve gained a lot of respect with not only administrators but students as well – as someone who is working hard for their interests.

FC: Is there another side to you? What’s the private Bre like?

DEMOCKO: I have a really unique sense of humor. I’m a total jokester and that’s a huge understatement. Don’t ever challenge me to a prank war because you will lose.

FC: What are some pranks you’ve pulled in the past?

DEMOCKO: See I don’t think its really smart for me to say all of the different stupid things I’ve done. I do have a funny story that’s not a prank though. When I was 14, Sarah Hulea, who’s an AOII with me, we’ve been friends since like the fourth grade – her parents were out of town. She had just turned 15 – she didn’t have a permit or anything. We took her parents’ car to drive and pick up one of our other friends and we crashed the car. Like, totaled the car. Obviously we didn’t have a license or permit so that was a pretty traumatic experience.

FC: It sounds like you were a bad kid.

DEMOCKO: No I wasn’t a bad kid. I always got in trouble – Oh, I can talk about senior pranks. In high school I was into a lot of pranks but I graduated in 2005 and in my senior year we did the ‘Five for 05’ – which was five pranks for 2005. I was pretty much the only one who did the pranks. In a few instances I had some people aiding me and helping me but I was the only one who had the balls enough to do it. I almost didn’t graduate. Twice.

FC: Were the pranks so bad that…

DEMOCKO: Well the first one we did was zip-tie all the lockers shut in the entire building. You know those zip-ties you get on some of your clothes? Well we zip tied every locker shut so nobody could open their lockers and it was pretty successful. That was pretty funny and we sat in lawn chairs and watched in the hallway. The second thing we did was we released crickets all through – we did all this stuff in one hallway, the freshman hallway because we knew there were no cameras there. So it was actually kinda funny, I went to PetSmart and bought all these crickets – by myself, like a total creeper. I was walking with a paper bag and I ran into one of my teachers who I had a five minute conversation with while the crickets were right there in the bag hopping all over the place. And then we emptied them all over the floor and they just spread. It was during one of the lunch periods and we just saw our principal and two assistants run down the hallway with all the janitors. I got called into the office because there were suspicions but I just denied it. They had no real evidence it was me. They said if I got caught I wouldn’t graduate due to insubordination. But that didn’t stop me. The third one was we spray-painted the outhouse – this building that was used for pipes and gauges that was a separate building by our soccer fields. We spray painted ‘2005 will never die’ – stupid stuff.

FC: Is that still there?

DEMOCKO: No, they painted over it. It was defacing school property so they said if that happened again the entire class would be punished. The fourth one was a prank I did single-handedly. I bought exlax and put it in the prom cookies that the juniors were supposed to make. They were supposed to bake cookies and put them in a container with their name on it. And what I did was I made mini-muffins because I knew everyone else made cookies so I could tell my friends, “Don’t eat the mini-muffins” I put Johnson as the name on the container so nobody would know it was me. There was a lot of ex-lax – anybody who ate that had to have been sprinting to the bathroom. It sounds really mean but it was really funny – all the muffins were gone by the end of the night. The fifth was the absolute best. I got pulled into the office the day before my last day of school. They said, "if there’s anything that were to happen, you will be blamed – it doesn’t matter if somebody else did it you will not walk. You will not graduate." I was like, “Oh my God if I find out of anything happening I’ll let you know – nothing will happen on my watch.” Little did they know – I had let a dead fish decompose in a glass jar for a week. My uncle gave me this idea. If you’ve ever smelled it, it is instant vomit. It is the most disgusting foul smell ever. So we let the fish decompose and then me and my friend Sarah – we actually let it decompose in her backyard in this glass jar. So its our graduation practice our last day of school and we slip out and went to the bathroom where the vents leak out to the hallway. So what we did was – we had this jar and all I can remember was unscrewing the top and it wasn’t even open. I didn’t even lift the lid and it was so bad I was gonna throw up. It was horrific. I held my breath and emptied it all in the vents and then we ran into the cafeteria. About five minutes later we saw the assistant principal and we ducked down. He didn’t see me but it was so bad that teachers were putting towels under the doors. They came on the announcements and said nobody is allowed to leave the room because it smelled so bad. People were spraying air fresheners everywhere. Students just had to be walking and throwing up everywhere. It was the freshmen hallway. The assistant principal was so pissed off that he didn’t even show up to our graduation. He pretty much said “Screw you guys”

FC: How did they not find out for sure it was you doing all this?

DEMOCKO: I knew what information they had and didn’t have. I had to be selective on who I told about things. I knew that they didn’t have substantial evidence and you can’t just accuse somebody and assume. They just tried to scare me and you can’t get scared.

FC: Are you a good liar then?

DEMOCKO: In that situation – yes. I don’t know how I am in other situations you’ll have to ask my friends. Proly not, I would say no.

FC: Do you believe in karma?

DEMOCKO: Oh definitely. Something’s gonna come back to bite me in the ass from all the stories in high school and even college.

FC: So you didn’t retire from pranking when you came to UT?

DEMOCKO: No I’ve retired since getting this position but you just wait until this year’s over – I’m going back in action. I mean not like in a malicious way – I don’t wanna like hurt anybody its just all in good fun.

FC: Lets play a little word association before we wrap up. The University of Toledo.

DEMOCKO: Students.

FC: Student Government.

DEMOCKO: Mike and Bre – putting you back in UT.

FC: Mike Betz.

DECMOKO: Redhead.

FC: Allison Dow.

DEMOCKO: Feisty. She’s feisty.

FC: AOII.

DEMOCKO: Fun.

FC: Finally, Bre Democko.

DEMOCKO: Unique. No that’s stupid. Diverse – I’m not a one dimensional person. Not a typical girly-girl. One thing I’ve really been getting into is being adventurous like camping, white water rafting, rock climbing, skydiving – so I kind of like the whole adventurous, I’m about to die kind of feel.

FC: Is that similar to the rush you get when doing pranks?

DEMOCKO: Yeah, very similar. Like I feel like I’m gonna get in trouble. That makes me sound like a big criminal. I’m not a criminal or a troublemaker, really - its all in good fun.

Sarah Kellogg (Toledo '08) seems to be leaving an important decision to her friends on Facebook...Should she stay blonde or go brunette? Our guess is this is more of a rhetorical question than anything else. As of this writing, no one has written any suggestions on her wall. On second thought, maybe this is a cry for help. Maybe she has been agonizing over this decision for weeks and can't take it anymore. If that's the case leave it to Facecast to step in.

Its official. Or at least it is in the Facebook world. CARL NELSON HAS ANNOUNCED HE IS RUNNING FOR STUDENT GOVERNMENT PRESIDENT IN 2008!! Hilary and Obama better watch out because if Carl wins (or at least gets one vote) he might feel confident enough to run for President of the United States...AND WIN!! BREAKING NEWS: SEANO ENTERS THE NO SPIN ZONE!!

SeanoFactor Weisenburger has announced he will be moving to New York!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, maybe we are a little too excited to see him go, but he's excited too. He hasn't even left yet and he's joined the New York, NY network. He has reason to be excited though...Seano has landed himself an internship with the Fox News' OReilly Factor for the Spring Semester...not bad for a Pike.

Upon receiving this news himself, Seano wrote this facebook note entitled "Fox News Here I Come!" on Friday December 28, 2007. The note contains Seano's complete life story at college (seriously) as well as some inspirational self-help tidbits including:

"Remember that you yourself can reach your dreams and accomplish your goals."

and "Presistance preserveres.. with the right attidude and approach you can achieve anything."

(Editor's Note: Our spell-checker has revealed that Seano has a problem with his REs)

The kicker of all this is that the picture he chose for this inspiring note was this:
For those of you who don't know, that is poor Jennifer Steck looking like she's being violated by Seano in some way. She didn't seem too happy with his photo choice as stated in her reply, "hahahahah! Of allllllllllllll the pictures you have- you choose that one!!!!! HAHAHAH!!!..."

The rest of the comments on the note were laced with sentimental well-wishes and good lucks from his friends. The fact only 13 of his 1045 facebook friends responded to the note shows just how many people will really miss him. He's even throwing a party in his own honor at Jax on Saturday January 5. Hopefully more of his friends care enough to show up to that.

All kidding aside, everyone at Facecast wishes Seano the best in New York. Believe it or not, we'll actually miss him.

CUTEST PICTURE ON FACEBOOK?

Amy Warnick, our resident Facecast socialite, has added what seems to be picture of herself circa 1989ish. Warnick was unable to comment due to her being busy at her country club. Its not all fun and games though, sources say she's pulling 6 hour days filled with tennis lessons, massages, tea times, and gourmet meals - made by her own personal chef Julio of course.

MOVIE REVIEW REVUE: TRANFORMERS

It's obvious that most of the people who saw Transformers liked it. However, facebookers everywhere have different opinions on how to express the fact that they loved this film.

Let's first start with Renee Charek. Renee says, "This was an awesome movie! Action-packed and funny at the same time!" This review presents an interesting dynamic. According to her profile, Renee's Favorite Movies include the typical picks for most college girls. She's got her chick flicks like "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days", her movie she used to love when she was a little kid "The Wizard of Oz", and the type of shit everyone is into these days "Harry Potter". So would such a typical girl have a typical reaction to the Transformers? Well, the fact that she liked it isn't surprising because this film was intended to be a summer blockbuster popcorn movie that everyone could enjoy. What's surprising is the fact that she mentions Action-packed as a good thing. Using a hyphen in the phrase really showed that she meant business. All of her other favorite movie picks on her profile are virtually devoid of any action, so why is the action appealing to her in this movie? The humor I can understand, but why she liked the action so much is beyond me and everyone else. Unfortunately for me, this review didn't make much sense, but maybe after repeat readings it might become more clear what she intended with it. (3 out of 5 Stars)

Next up is our boy Ben's Review. He accompanies his 5 star rating with a simple "kick ass" Quite frankly, this review is too short. It starts out okay but I would like to see more. Sometimes its nice to be left hanging but this is too much. (1 out of 5 stars)

Finally we have Andy Harman's review. The reason why it is so long is because Andy is a film and communication major so he feels his opinion matters more than everyone else. The interesting this about Andy's review is that he seems to be throwing out the typical film school responses to the directing, lighting, and actor performances. Instead, he is replacing it with a bitter sentence about Michael Bay and a self indulgent trip down memory lane. I'm sure Transformers fans can appreciate the ending of this review but it just didnt work for me. (2 out of 5 stars)

BREAKING NEWS: Ricky Passmore wrote on Halina LaRiccia's wall.

Ricky Passmore, a Junior in Film but a major asshole, wrote on Halina LaRiccia's wall. This cryptic post leads us to believe Passmore was posting on LaRiccia's wall right in front of her. If they were hanging out, why is he wasting time writing on her wall? I guess the same logic doesn't apply to people that "Simpsonize" Themselves.
